Background: WTVI is the PBS station affiliate located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
1st (known) Logo
(1987-1998)
Logo: On a black background, we see a floor with blue boxes that have "42" in them. Then a big, shiny, blue square flips in, zooming in towards the screen. In the box, it has a "42" at the top left hand corner, and an abstract "WTVI" near the bottom. About a second after the logo stops, the words "Charlotte - STEREO" in white fades in below the box.
FX/SFX: The zooming in of the logo
Music/Sounds: A synth theme, accompanied by announcer that says "Discover the difference. WTVI Channel 42 Charlotte."
Availability: Extinct. Only used as a local ID.
Editor's Note: The music and the sudden appearance of the logo might surprise some.
2nd Logo
(1998-2004?)
Logo: On a black background, we see the word "charlotte" in metallic grey slowly flip from the left side of the screen, along with a metallic blue circle from the bottom the screen at the same time. Just before they flip into place, the word "WTVI", also in metallic grey, flips in from the top of the screen. When the objects are just about to be flipped in place, a 3D wooden rectangle, two words, and a white PBS P-head appear from the bottom of the screen. The rectangle flips in behind the word "charlotte", the words "Stay curious" flip in below the rectangle/word, and the PBS head flips into the circle, sans the split piece.
FX/SFX: The flipping of objects/words.
Music/Sounds: A short synth note, followed by an ascending synth note, then a chime, and two synth notes.
Availability: Extinct. Like the 1st logo, was also only used as a local ID.
Editor's Note: The CGI in this logo is obviously very dated, and the PBS logo is missing a piece!
