The studio was originally formed by Rainbow Media, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation. On July 1, 2011, Rainbow Media was spun-off to become AMC Networks Inc. While the studio released its first films in 1999 and 2001, they did not use a logo until the release of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
