Background: Founded in 1988, Mirage Software was a game publishing (and later development) company in Poland. Creating mainly games for Amiga, it was later known as "Mirage Media" until 2000, when the publishing division merged with IPS to form Cenega Publishing, and the development division spun-off as "Mirage Interactive". After making some bad quality games for PC, the company went into liquidation.
1st Logo
(1988?-1998)
Logo: It's just the company name in a weird angular font, with "A" and "G" almost resembling triangles. The background vary in different games. "SOFTWARE" is writtenbelow in a small font.
Variants: There were different backgrounds. One late variant has the name in blue, lying in perspective and the "R" enhanced with a yellow sphere. Another variation has the name in copper and "R" with a visibly-3D blue sphere.
FX/SFX: None. For the copper variant, the logo movesa bit and the blue sphere descends.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Rare. Mainly seen in more poorly-known Amiga games. A few of these games haveports to PC.
Editor's Note: None.
2nd Logo
(1999-2001)
Logo: We see a sun-lit oasis with a distant palace and two palm trees. Suddenly night comes around and the moon rises into the sky, along with stars. The picture becomes parchment and is torn at the middle section, letting a yellow bar with "MIRAGE" written on it zoom inside. The first two letters are blue, the others are red.
Variants: On Hands of Time for the GameBoy Color, there was no animation, just the shield.
FX/SFX: Theanimation of the oasis, and the moon and shield zooming. Simple animation.
Music/Sounds: Oriental tunes to boot, andthen sudden moon popping sounds. It then changes to cicadas creaking.
Availability: Appeared in Mortyr and Hands of Time.
Editor's Note: None.
3rd Logo
(2001-2004)
Logo: A red oval with black borders appear. Then a wolf's head pops inside and moves, flipping outside and howling. A bar slides to the right, with "INTERACTIVE" above it, and "MIRAGE" letters zoom separately below.
Variants: Still logo was used on Sniper: Path of Vengeance and Another War.
