Background:Premiere was the original pioneer in broadcasting subscription premium movies via satellite. In 1986 it merged with rival film channel Mirrorvision, but kept the brand Premiere. To view Premiere via satellite you would have needed expensive equipment and a dish around 1.5metre in size. It's largest audience was via cable tv.The channel shut down in July 1989. Running up losses of around $10 million, could not survive with the high costs of new films and competition from the launch of Sky Movies.

(1985?-1989)

Premiere
Logo: There is lots of lights that come from a golden 1. The lights disappear to reveal it and a starfield. Then we see "PREM1ERE" zoom out, then it spins and flies away while a globe flies in. The 1 appears again from the globe, and then the entire word appears, and the copyright "© The Premiere Partnership [YEAR]" fades in. The globe again flies in from the left and makes it look like a Universal logo. But, the text then flies away again and dissolves. The globe fades out also but, the word zooms in with a trail effect.

FX/SFX: All the effects. It was a nice one.

Music/Sounds: An ominous gong hit that becomes a triumphant fanfare. An announcer plays after.

Availability: Extinct.

Editors Note: None.
