Logo: On a plain white background with a light blue trapezoid shape, we see a drawing of Butch Hartman as a superhero, looking somewhat similar to Superman, but with a few differences:

Butch is smaller in size than Superman.
His tights are purple with black briefs.
His boots are yellow.
Instead of an "S" embedded in a backwards triangle, it is a cursive red "B" in front of a yellow circle.

Butch's cape extends out to reveal the words:

Music/Sounds Variants:

On The Fairly OddParents episode, "Open Wide & Say Ahhh/Odd Pirates" and A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!, the ending theme of the show/movie respectively plays over it.
On some episodes of The Fairly OddParents, the audio is high-pitched.
On 2009-2014 airings of Season 6 and later episodes of The Fairly OddParents with the split-screen credits and later episodes of Bunsen Is a Beast! episodes with the 2017 Nickelodeon Productions logo, the "Inc!" sound effect has been removed.

Availability: First introduced with Danny Phantom. Later incorporated onto post-2008 episodes of The Fairly OddParents, and has since then appeared on T.U.F.F. Puppy and lastly, Bunsen Is a Beast! (the latter which was Hartman's last-ever show, as he eventually left Nickelodeon).

Nickname: "Multicolored BRB"

Logo: On a gray background, a logo materializes from the top down, as if being "drawn" in. It is a series of segmented lines in the form of two "B's" with an "R" as a kind of "hole" between them. The lines are (from top to bottom) shades of red, purple, blue, and green. Diagonal white lines appear above and below the logo, and below the lower line is the word "PRODUCTIONS".

FX/SFX: The logo drawing.

Music/Sounds: A 6-note synth kids-like tune. Some episodes of Zoobilee Zoo had a twinkling sound effect. In other cases, it's silent.

Availability: Seen at the end of Zoobilee Zoo and some Pee Wee's Playhouse repeats.

Music/Sounds: A string fanfare, which was lifted from the theme song of the syndicated news program First Business.

Availability: It was seen only once, at the end of the 100% Educational Videos program Long Ago, Yesterday and Today, which can be found on Discovery Education.

Educational Pictures/Film Exchanges/E.W. Hammons

Background: Educational Pictures was an early film company that produced and distributed short subject materials in the 1920s. Some of the Felix the Cat silent cartoons were distributed by Educational Pictures. Around the start of the sound era, Educational Pictures began handling all of the short subjects for Fox Film Corporation, including the early Paul Terry "Terrytoons". This continued until at least 1938.

(1925-1938)

Nicknames: "The Spice of the Program", "Aladdin's Lamp"

Logo: We see the words "Educational Film Exchanges presents", "Educational Pictures presents", or "E.W. Hammons presents" at the top of the screen followed by the name of the short. At the bottom of the screen, is a drawing of a genie's lamp with smoke coming out of it, and written above it in cursive are the words "Educational Pictures" connected to the smoke. At the bottom of the lamp, the words "THE SPICE OF THE PROGRAM" are below the lamp. Then the logo appears full screen with a real photo of a lamp and above the lamp, "Educational Pictures" is written out, and below it are the words, "The Spice of the Program".

FX/SFX: The logo quickly fading in from top to bottom after the first opening credits.

Music/Sounds: The theme to whatever short or cartoon is playing.

Availability: Probably rare, considering the age of the company, and the possibility that old TV prints or home movie distributors may have retitled the shorts and cartoons for the 16mm rental market. Can be seen occasionally on PBS's Matinee At the Bijou.

Logo: On a blue-black gradient background, a gray rounded vertical rectangle. with three hole punctures on its left side, zooms towards the screen at an angle and starts to turn to us to face straight and eventually fills the screen. It turns out to be a notebook with solid writing lines (a la the 1980s FHE logo). When it stops, an animated drawing of a hand holding a paintbrush with a red handle starts to write the text FAMILY FILMS in cursive with the words in a rainbow of colors. The notebook and the lines disappear as the background fades to gray while the words turn pastel and twinkle a few times in-sync with the music. "Presents" appears below the words to the right.

FX/SFX: The notebook zooming in, the hand drawing the text, the background changing, the words twinkling, and "Presents" appearing.

Music/Sounds: A whimsical flute fanfare with a whoosh throughout to accompany the zooming notebook, followed by a calm,yet somber fanfare that repeats its notes when the words twinkle in-sync with the music and a flourish when "Presents" appears.

Availability: Rare; can be found on the 1970s animated holiday specials starring Benji and Waldo issued on VHS in the late '80s, such as Christmas Is and Easter Is. Also seen on Selfish Sally and Wendy and the Whine.

Flying Mallet, Inc.

Nickname: "White-Winged Mallet"

(1999)" width="295"/>Logo: Over a somewhat cheap-looking light blue background with cumulus clouds, we see a brown mallet with white wings rise from the screen, flapping its wings. It stops in the middle, and a transparent circle containing "FLYING MALLET INC" with "FLYING" on top and "MALLET INC" on the bottom, spins out and places itself in a position so that the winged mallet is in the center of it. The surrounding area of the circle then becomes solid white.

Variant: On KaBlam!, this logo is sped up.

FX/SFX: The flapping and rising, and the circle's animation.

Music/Sounds: We hear a "flapping" noise and the sound of wind blowing, followed by a long piano chord that carries on into the Nickelodeon Productions logo. KaBlam! used the end theme. On Cry Baby Lane, the closing theme ended with a series of drumstick taps synced to the wing animation. Split-screen credit airings of Action League Now! features this logo and the following Nickelodeon logo silent.

Background: Gunther Wahl Productions was an animation company formed by Lee Gunther and Michael Wahl.

(1992-November 11, 2001)

Nickname: "GW" "Mark VII Animated"

Logo: Over a brown stone background with cracks in it, an animated blue sleeved hand plants a stamp on the background. With his other hand, he taps the stamp with a mallet and he pulls both the hammer and stamp away, revealing an emblem with a conjoined "GW" in it, surrounded by "GUNTHER-WAHL" on top, and

A still version also exists (which is far more common).
On some episodes of the American dub of The Adventures of T-Rex, the man hits his thumb with the mallet and says "Ow!" as his thumb turns red from hitting it. He shakes his hand in pain as he pulls both the stamp and the mallet away as well.

FX/SFX: Cartoon animation. Otherwise, none.

Music/Sounds: A descending dramatic theme, followed by some xylophone notes and some drum beats, concluding with a peaceful piano note. The still version had the closing theme of the program.

Availability: The animated version is very rare, and it was only seen on the American dub of The Adventures of T-Rex. The still version is easier to find, and it can be seen on The Angry Beavers when aired on NickSplat on TeenNick, as well as on DVD. The still version was also seen on Red Planet.

Background: The Hatchery is a Californian production company owned by <a class="external" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Greetings" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="American Greetings">American Greetings</a> and <a class="external" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandalay_Entertainment" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="Mandalay Entertainment">Mandalay Entertainment</a>.

(August 2, 2004-March 9, 2013)

Logo: On a black background, we see a frame containing a backdrop of clouds moving, and the words "THE HATCHERY" being displayed in the top-center in big, bold and black text, with a small "LLC." next to the "Y". At the bottom of the frame is an egg that rolls twice before hitting the left side of the frame, cracking it a bit. It then rolls 3 more times to an upright position, where a light glows from inside the crack afterwards.

FX/SFX: The egg rolling, the clouds moving hastily in the background, and the egg admitting a light from inside the egg.

Music/Sounds: A "CRACK" and rolling sounds, followed by a male audience contently going "Ahhh!". Sometimes it's silent.

Availability: Uncommon. Can be seen on Dan Vs., Young Blades and R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series, as well as R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It. Originally first appeared on the short-lived PAX game show Balderdash.

Logo: On a black background, there are two ovals overlapping with each other. The left one is in pink while the right one is in red. The overlapped area in the middle is in purple. The ovals bear the text "JUNiORNeT" in a light yellow funky font casting a shadow. The trademark symbol is shown on the bottom right in the latter oval's color.

FX/SFX: None.

Availability: Ultra rare. Only seen on The Zack Files.

Kromocolor Productions

Background: This was the colorization unit of Modern Film Sales Corporation.

(1920s-1930s)

Nickname: "Multicolored Sunburst"

Logo: Several sunbursts are seen stacked on a dark blue background, which has the words "the end" on it in white lettering. The sunbursts are pinkish in nature, with the smaller sunburst dark pink, while the biggest is nearly white. This is stacked atop a pinkish background with the word "A KROMOCOLOR (Title below) PRODUCTION" in black Art-Deco type. The rest of the logo has been cut off. Possibly, this may not actually be a logo, but something else. Kromocolor could have been the film process used. Modern Film Sales bought some of the old Mutt and Jeff cartoons, added soundtracks, and colorized them.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The ending music of a Mutt and Jeff cartoon.

Availability: The only known cartoons that this logo has been seen on is Mutt and Jeff in Westward Whoa, and Mutt and Jeff in Slick Sleuths. It's likely this would appear on Mutt and Jeff cartoons from around this time.

Background: This is the vanity card of Peter Hannan, creator of CatDog.

(October 5, 1998-May 18, 2001)

Logo: Over a white background, we see a tall anthropomorphic pig standing on the right of the screen, with a straw in his mouth, wearing cowboy attire. The crudely-written text "PETER HANNAN PRODUCTIONS", in black, is next to the pig.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: Usually, the end theme of CatDog finishes over it, but when Nickelodeon started split-screening credits (which cuts out the end theme of the show and replaces it with promos) in September 2000, it gained the sound of flies buzzing, which only lasted until 2006, in which it used the end theme again for split-screen credit airings.

Availability: Uncommon. It can be seen on reruns of CatDog on NickSplat on TeenNick and on DVD.

United Plankton Pictures, Inc.

Background: This is the vanity card of Stephen Hillenburg, creator of SpongeBob SquarePants.

1st Logo

(1997-1999)

Nicknames:“Early Spongebob”, “Stephen Hillenburg’s Masterpiece”

Logo:On a white background, there is a picture of Spongebob drawn in the same style as the Plankton creatures in the second logo, over a sand coloured background with blue swirls in rows covering it. Overtop the picture of Spongebob, are the wordsCreatedByin black, and underneath Spongebob:StephenHillenburgin the same color and font.

FX/SFX:None.

Music/Sounds:The end theme of the pilot.

Availability:This logo can only be found on the pilot version of Spongebob before it was titledHelp Wanted.This version of the episode has never been seen since it’s initial airing and has since been re-edited into a normal episode format. The only chance of seeing it is on VHS recordings of the pilot or on a rare Nickelodeon employee VHS titled “The Best of Nicktoons 1998”.

Editor’s Note:A very well done original logo and a good hint at what was to come for the full series. In the time since his passing, it has also become a very touching and heartfelt logo in remembrance of Stephen Hillenburg and his gift to the world: Spongebob Squarepants.

2nd Logo
(May 1, 1999- )

Nicknames: "Friends of the Sea", "Holding Hands", "The Underwater Logo", "The Plankton Logo" "Plankton's Friends"

Logo: On a moving ocean background with a reflection of light (which is also seen on one part in the SpongeBob intro), we see some crudely drawn sea creatures, one of them being a less detailed drawing of Plankton (a character on SpongeBob), holding hands. The words:

are above, and the words:

Pictures inc.

are below, both written in the "Krabby Patty" font.

Trivia: In the SpongeBob episode "Plankton's Army", Plankton's family visits the Chum Bucket and Plankton enlists their help into taking over the Krusty Krab to steal the Krabby Patty formula. They are based off the characters in the logo.

Variants:

A superimposed version can be seen over the final scenes of SpongeBob episodes. This began in June 2012 when Nickelodeon (and recently Nicktoons as of May 5, 2014) started playing the credits over the parting scenes of most of their shows.
Starting in 2012, the logo is slightly redone for HD-produced episodes. The ocean background is now greenish-tint, the Plankton creatures are drawn more smoothly, and the logo is in 16:9 widescreen.
From Nickelodeon USA's rebrand from 2009 until sometime in 2010, sometimes it will have a copyright notice (as recycled from the 2008-2009 Nickelodeon "Lightbulb" logo cheaply added in).

FX/SFX: The ocean background moving.

Music/Sounds: Usually, the SpongeBob SquarePants end theme or whatever theme was used on the credits finishes over it. On Nick and Nicktoons (and the January-February 2016 MTV airings) airings with split-screen credits, there is the sound of crashing waves and seagulls, which from September 2000 until Nickelodeon USA's rebrand in 2009 would extend onto the Nickelodeon logo that was used during the era.

Music/Sounds Variants:

On non-split-screen airings of the SpongeBob SquarePants episodes "Texas"/"Walking Small", cows (from the episode's closing theme, which is Junior Brown performing the SpongeBob theme) are heard in the background.
On early SpongeBob video releases, it's silent.

Availability: Very, very common. It's currently seen on SpongeBob SquarePants on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. When the episode Wet Painters/Krusty Krab Training Video aired in 2002, due to an editing mistake on Nick's part, the Klasky-Csupo Robot logo was shown in place of this on airings with split-screen credits. On November 30, 2011, during an airing of the episode "Pest of the West", this was replaced with the Rainbow S.r.l logo. The cow variant can be seen on Amazon Video. The enhanced version was first seen at the end of the episode "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!", as well as newer SpongeBob SquarePants episodes. The audio variant is extinct, as it was last seen when MTV aired the show in February 2016 because instead of using the show's original credits, it used split-screen credits Nickelodeon used from September 2009 until June 2012. It made surprise re-appearances on both a June 2018 Nickelodeon USA airing of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode, "The Hot Shot" and a November 2018 airing of the episode, "Truth or Square" because of the fact Nickelodeon messed up the two episodes' credits and the split-screen credits template was used.
