Background: After Viacom and CBS Corporation split in 2006, the latter company formed CBS Films to produce and distribute films. The first film from the studio was Extraordinary Measures, released on January 22, 2010. Originally, CBS Films released their films on their own (its predecessors had different studios release their films). Starting in 2015, Lionsgate Films began to distribute the studio's films in the United States (Lionsgate Home Entertainment also distributes the films on home media for CBS Home Entertainment). In January 2019, it was announced that CBS Films would be folded into the main CBS Entertainment Group and begin producing films exclusively for the CBS All Access service.

Note: Not to be confused with the "old" CBS Films (later known as "CBS Enterprises" in 1968 and "Viacom Enterprises" in 1971, now "CBS Television Studios"), the former syndication division of the CBS Television Network.

Logo: We see a filmstrip that starts to move. Then, we zoom out, go around like a roller coaster and we zoom away so that all the filmstrips form the CBS corporate Eyemark logo. As the circle of the CBS eye shines, the seven letters zoom out to form the words "CBS FILMS" with "CBS" to the left of the eye and "FILMS" to the right, all in sky blue color. Some circles move out from the eye and the center of the eye turns blue.

Trivia: This logo was made by Prologue.

Variants:
  • Depending on the film, the end result of the logo is either in the middle or off-centered to the right.
  • In a trailer for Beastly, the logo was still on black background.
  • The closing version is silver.

FX/SFX: The rolling filmstrip, the light effects, and the zooming letters that looks similar to the Sony Pictures Entertainment-based logos. Very nice animation.

Music/Sounds: An light orchestral fanfare composed by James Horner, composer of the CBS News Productions theme music and the 2009 CBS Television Studios logo theme music.

Availability: Seen on
Extraordinary Measures, The Back-Up Plan, Faster, The Mechanic, and Beastly. The black background variant is seen on the trailer for the latter.

Editor's Note: Nice animation, along with a well-composed theme.

2nd Logo

L
ogo: On a grey background, many copies of the word "CBS" without the CBS eye zoom out. It then slides to the side to reveal "FILMS".

Closing Variant: The logo is white, with "CBS" appearing slightly more dark, and is on a black background. The logo looks less detailed.

FX/SFX: The logo zooming and expanding, and the light.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the film.

Availability: Common, seen on newer films starting with The Woman in Black. The logo made its final theatrical appearance on Jexi, released on October 11, 2019.

Editor's Note:
The logo looks basic, compared to the previous logo. The closing variant looks worse, as if it were made in a matter of minutes.
