Background: Christal Films is a Canadian film studio of Christian Larouche, created in 2000. It had a distribution partnership with Lionsgate and Maple Pictures called Christal Films Distribution. But in 2008 the company suffered major financial troubles and was ultimately acquired by Entertainment One in 2009, who also acquired their main rival Seville Pictures that year, and announced the creation of a French-Canadian joint venture Les Films Christal for the distribution of all Christal films in Canada and internationally.
