Background: Kazakhfilm is the main film studio of former Kazakh Soviet Republic and modern Kazakhstan. Started in 1934 as "Alma-Ata Cinema Chronicle Studio" and since 1941 began to produce feature films. During the war it harbored the evacuated Mosfilm and Lenfilm equipment and continued film shooting. In 1960 the studio renamed to "Kazakhfilm".
