1st Warning
(1991)
Warning: This was the FBI Warning screen used for Embassy Home Entertainment/Nelson Entertainment. On a purple background, we see the FBI square (the big white "FBI" with the white FBI logo). Next to it is a white square is black text. Between some of the text is a vermilion "WARNING!"
FX/SFX: None.
Variations:
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: This was used for Embassy Home Entertainment and Nelson Entertainment before New Line Home Video took over their home entertainment department. On New Line releases, can be seen on City Slickers and Eve of Destruction starring Gregory Hines. Also seen on Video Treasures, Strand Home Video, Fries Home Video and early MPI Home Video releases.
Scare Factor: Like most warnings in this format, low to medium, plus the exclamation point on the "WARNING!" could intimidate some.
2nd Warning
(1992)
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: For New Line Home Video, seen on Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. Possibly an editing mistake.
Scare Factor: Low.
3rd Warning
(1991-1997)
Warning: On a black background, we see the word "WARNING" in red with drop shadow. Below it is the Warning text in white. This was also used for the Warning screen of MGM/UA Home Video.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Seen on New Line Home Video tapes from 1991-1997. Also seen on early New Line Home Video DVD's as well.
Scare Factor: Low.
4th Warning
(1997-2008)
Warning: Kind of an updated version of the 1991 Warning. The shadow effects are white, the "Warning" a bit skinnier and the text is bolder. Also, the lining of the text is very different as well.
Variant: A custom-made version was seen on The Golden Compass.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Seen on New Line Home Video/Entertainment releases.
Scare Factor: Low for the regular version and none for the Golden Compass version. This may surprise you when expecting the regular warning and come up with this, but it's harmless.
