Background: Spelling-Goldberg Productions was another television production company of Aaron Spelling formed on May 1, 1972 with Leonard J. Goldberg (who also founded Mandy Films and later Panda Productions). In 1977, Spelling and Goldberg went their separate ways, and the assets were sold to Columbia Pictures Television. Columbia Pictures later acquired Spelling-Goldberg on May 17, 1982 and later operated as a division of Columbia Pictures Television. It was closed in 1986 after T.J. Hooker got canceled. Today
, all of the Spelling/Goldberg library is handled and distributed by Sony Pictures Television, who also was the co-producer of a fraction of the library (as Columbia Pictures Television).
